I am me.

I am also an artist, of sorts, specializing in jewellery-making, ceramics, sewing, and pretty much anything else I can get my hands to do. As of this time I'm also trying to work out how to seek diagnoses for suspected Asperger's Syndrome and fibromyalgia, to go along with the asthma and allergies I've already got.

Oh, and I am most definitely quite weird. It's not my middle name, but it certainly could be!

[livejournal.com profile] elisem is having a pretend-this-is-the-WisCon-dealers-room SALE! over at her LJ. The sale goes until Sunday night, May 10th, Minneapolis time (that is to say, Central Daylight Savings time, for those who are better at time zone conversions than I am). There's some really cool stuff up this time around (well, when isn't there?). Me, I'm lusting after the agates, geode, beads, and such that are listed--I wanna make stuffs!

[livejournal.com profile] elisem is having a March Shinies Sale until Tuesday night (03/10/09) at midnight, Minneapolis time. If you're in the market for jewellery of various sorts (pendants, necklaces, earrings, necklace crowns, and such), I highly recommend stopping by the sale; [livejournal.com profile] elisem's work is wonderful.

And I haven't even posted the last little bits of '08-ness!

Well, here goes:

December 16th, 2008: Dragonforce concert. Absolutely fantastic, despite some misunderstandings between the tour peoples and the venue (or something) regarding the meet-and-greet with the band, which didn't really happen. (We'd received instructions via e-mail to form a separate line at the will-call office, where we had to pick up our tickets anyway. So [livejournal.com profile] gavic and I did so, along with five or six others. Somehow, the person who was supposed to meet us was told to just go through the main line and find fanclub people that way, or something, and so those of us who followed the e-mailed instructions--which also said not to ask any box office or security personnel about the meet-and-greet, as they would not have any info--didn't get the meet-and-greet. We did, however, at least get to see the two opening acts (the names of which I'm not recalling, though [livejournal.com profile] gavic probably knows), and, in contrast to the Dragonforce show I sorta attended in the Springs, the opening acts were amazing, too. Though I wasn't too happy about having to be patted down to enter the show area--I understand why they did, but I would've appreciated some warning, as I don't cope well with unexpected events, and being patted down by some random guy isn't something I find all that enjoyable even when I know it's a possibility (like at airports).

December 20th, 2008: Bell gave us one heck of a Christmas present. A Blackberry Curve for each of his ([livejournal.com profile] gavic's is silver and mine's red), waiving of all activation fees, two 2-gig mem cards, one 4-gig mem card, a case for each phone, and extra stuff added on to both of our plans--all for free! So our only fees for leaving Rogers are going to come from Rogers, whenever they get around to sending us the bill.

Christmas Goodies )

Oh, and notes of possible interest to anyone who's interested in such things:

I'm starting to make my own jewellery! Have completed two pendants so far (one has been Named, and the other is having a Name thought up) and have both a bracelet and a necklace half-done; the bracelet also has a Name already. Once I have some pictures and have figured out somewhere to put them, I'll be posting said pictures up for people to see, along with prices, should anyone desire to purchase anything.

[livejournal.com profile] elisem has going on, over at this post, a sale of nice, loverly, shiny jewellery-type thingies. Many of which I am drooling over.

I highly encourage anyone who's interested in such shinies, or is interested in getting me shinies, gift certificates, or Bead of the Month subscriptions (about which there are details here; I am so wanting a Mother of All Magpies for June--pretties!) for any reason, to wander on over to her sale (and to keep an eye--or two!--on her ArtLog posts in general). She does some utterly amazing work, and I love the names she comes up with for her pieces, too--they're all very inspiring!

...but I'm posting this, courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] coffeeem, anyway, as it does express my feelings on the topic, and rather more eloquently than I can usually manage.

Copy this sentence into your Live Journal if you're in a heterosexual marriage/relationship (or if you think you might be someday), and you don't want it "protected" by the bigots who think that gay marriage hurts it somehow.

Yes, I live in Canada, where gay marriage is legal. Yes, I am in a heterosexual marriage (though I tend to identify more as an asexual lesbian who happened to marry a guy, as, for me, those three things are in no way mutually exclusive--I am asexual because I have no desire whatsoever for sex, I am a lesbian because I am attracted to girls instead of guys, and I married a guy because he's the person I fell in love with; sex, attraction, and love are three different things for me).

Given those two facts, technically what happens regarding gay marriage in the States should not matter to me, or so I have been told at times. However, it does matter. Just like the issue of trying to overturn Roe v. Wade matters. People should be free to marry whomever they want, and no one should be able to force a female to either have an abortion or carry a fetus to term (or to be either sterilized or not sterilized, for that matter, though that, unlike pregnancy and abortion, applies to both genders).

And there ends my quasi-political rantings, at least until after November 4th, depending on what happens.

The Big Read reckons that the average adult has only read six of the top one hundred books they've printed.

1) Look at the list and bold those you have read.
2) Italicize those you intend to read.
3) Underline the books you love.
4) Cross out the ones you started but didn't finish.
5) Add a * to the ones you've only seen the movie of.
6) Reprint this list in your own LJ so we can try and track down these people who’ve only read six books and force more books upon them.

I guess I read too much! )

From 9am PDT on June 28th, 2008 to 9am PDT on June 29th, 2009, there will be a twenty-four hour read-a-thon, hosted by one Dewey from The Hidden Side of a Leaf. I'll be participating as a Reader (heck, that's about all I do anyway!), and I encourage anyone else who's intrigued by the idea to visit the info page and check it out!
