And I haven't even posted the last little bits of '08-ness!

Well, here goes:

December 16th, 2008: Dragonforce concert. Absolutely fantastic, despite some misunderstandings between the tour peoples and the venue (or something) regarding the meet-and-greet with the band, which didn't really happen. (We'd received instructions via e-mail to form a separate line at the will-call office, where we had to pick up our tickets anyway. So [livejournal.com profile] gavic and I did so, along with five or six others. Somehow, the person who was supposed to meet us was told to just go through the main line and find fanclub people that way, or something, and so those of us who followed the e-mailed instructions--which also said not to ask any box office or security personnel about the meet-and-greet, as they would not have any info--didn't get the meet-and-greet. We did, however, at least get to see the two opening acts (the names of which I'm not recalling, though [livejournal.com profile] gavic probably knows), and, in contrast to the Dragonforce show I sorta attended in the Springs, the opening acts were amazing, too. Though I wasn't too happy about having to be patted down to enter the show area--I understand why they did, but I would've appreciated some warning, as I don't cope well with unexpected events, and being patted down by some random guy isn't something I find all that enjoyable even when I know it's a possibility (like at airports).

December 20th, 2008: Bell gave us one heck of a Christmas present. A Blackberry Curve for each of his ([livejournal.com profile] gavic's is silver and mine's red), waiving of all activation fees, two 2-gig mem cards, one 4-gig mem card, a case for each phone, and extra stuff added on to both of our plans--all for free! So our only fees for leaving Rogers are going to come from Rogers, whenever they get around to sending us the bill.

Christmas Goodies

One Smart Cookie, signed by the author--from [livejournal.com profile] gurux
Canadian history minutes DVDs (can't remember the proper title)--from [livejournal.com profile] gurux
another Canadian history DVD to the same set--from [livejournal.com profile] pravikun
bright pink sparkly cowboy-boot-shaped slippers--from [livejournal.com profile] gavic
assorted books from work--from [livejournal.com profile] gavic
candies, t-shirt, plush Nick-doggie (stocking stuffer stuff)
a nice mixer--from the father-in-law

and I think that's everything...I'll try and remember to update if I recall anything else!

Oh, and notes of possible interest to anyone who's interested in such things:

I'm starting to make my own jewellery! Have completed two pendants so far (one has been Named, and the other is having a Name thought up) and have both a bracelet and a necklace half-done; the bracelet also has a Name already. Once I have some pictures and have figured out somewhere to put them, I'll be posting said pictures up for people to see, along with prices, should anyone desire to purchase anything.
Mood:: 'cold' cold
location: under the covers trying to keep warm

It sounds like the last half of December treated you really well, Finny.

Also, congrats on the making of your own jewellery! That's great and I can't wait to see some pictures.

It did indeed, other than the annoying cold both [livejournal.com profile] gavic and I caught from work--the last traces of it (annoying cough) are still lingering. However, having eleven days off (we got off work at about 12:30pm on the 24th and we don't go back until the 5th, this coming Monday) rather makes up for that!

The jewellery-making is great fun. The pendant I made yesterday is not for sale (it reminds me of the time I used to spend with my father, when I was at Emerson in Boston and he lived in Maine--I loved Maine), but most of the rest of what I make will be, should people be interested.

The Dragonforce concert sounded like lots of fun! I am glad you enjoyed yourself.

Your holiday did sound wonderful.

The jewelry sounds fantastic. I am so looking forward to pictures. What type of jewelry? How are you fashioning it? or designing it? Or just creating these?

Deleting and re-posting due to an HTML mix-up.

The concert was a lot of fun, especially since I got to see the whole show. (When I was still living with my mother, she took me to see the same group. However, she made me leave after Dragonforce had done one song. It was most annoying!)

The holiday was indeed quite good. As has been the time off--both [livejournal.com profile] gavic and I needed it!

As for the jewellery, so far I'm making lots of pendants, using stones and beads (usually glass). Most of it is wirewrapped, so that the wire doesn't just hold the beads in place--it becomes part of the design of the piece. I've also got some necklaces and bracelets I'm working on, but I need to get some better workspace and tools before I can get them looking the way I want them to. The pendants are much easier for me to make with the space and tools I've got, and so far they've turned out pretty nice. I'm having a lot of fun with it. Which is why I'm doing it. If I end up making some spending cash or something by making the jewellery, that's just a nice bonus at this point.
