Age: Uh...let me ask the husband! *asks* Okay, twenty-eight.
Where you grew up: Colorado Springs, Colorado
1. A body of water, smaller than a river, contained within relatively narrow banks: A crik, creek, stream, brook, or rill.
2. What the thing you push around the grocery store is called: A shopping cart, cart, buggie, buggy, or trolley.
3. A metal container to carry a meal in: Lunch box, lunch pail, or lunch tin, depending on the shape.
4. The thing that you cook bacon and eggs in: Cooking thingie? Or frying pan, I guess. Usually I just point at it and use it, not name it.
5. The piece of furniture that seats three people: A couch, though I've heard folks call it a divan and some other weird word I don't remember.
6. The device on the outside of the house that carries rain off the roof: Eaves or gutter.
7. The covered area outside a house where people sit in the evening: A deck. Or a porch. Or a step, if it's really tiny.
8. Carbonated, sweetened, non-alcoholic beverages: Soda or sodapop.
9. A flat, round breakfast food served with syrup: Pancakes or griddlecakes. Or latkes, for the potato version (yummy!).
10. A long sandwich designed to be a whole meal in itself: Sub.
11. The piece of clothing worn by men at the beach: Uh...I don't think I call them anything at all, not being a guy. Sorry!
12. Shoes worn for sports: Tennis shoes, tennys, or tennies. (Now that I'm in Canada, folks seem to call them "runners", and that always tends to confuse me.)
13. Putting a room in order: Cleaning up. Or straightening up if it's just a little bit of stuff, not a huge mess.
14. A flying insect that glows in the dark: Firefly or lightning bug.
15. The little insect that curls up into a ball: Pill bug.
16. The children's playground equipment where one kid sits on one side and goes up while the
other sits on the other side and goes down: See-saw or teeter-totter.
17. How do you eat your pizza: From the skinny part. Leaving the crust behind (it's too dry and icky...darn texture issues!).
18. What's it called when private citizens put up signs and sell their used stuff: Garage sale or yard sale. (And boy is it confusing up here, since most of the garages seem to be detached, so most of the garage sales tend to be in back alleys rather than right off the street like I'm used to.)
19. What's the evening meal? Dinner, the times we bother to eat it.
20. The thing under a house where the furnace and perhaps a rec room are: A basement, I suppose. Sometimes a crawlspace, if it's dinky.
